瞿秋白在《多余的话》中提及的“历史的误会”之说，并非出于自谦，而是暗指那些是非曲直未曾理清的历史公案而言。本文认为：瞿秋白在大革命失败后出任中共中央主要负责人，是革命的选择，是党的抉择。而不是“历史的误会”；瞿秋白在中共“八七”会议后，曾犯有“左”的错误，其理论根源是来自共产国际的误导；瞿秋白在中共六届四中全会前后，曾遭受王明一伙的政治迫害，是王明“左”倾路线的受害者；历史的教训：一、革命不能输出；二、不能搬用别国的革命模式；三、在认定革命性质时要依据本国的经济发展程度；四、要消除产生历史悲剧的思想根源 Qu Qiubai’s “misunderstanding of history” mentioned in the “unnecessary words” is not self-modesty, but implies historical cases that have not been sorted out by right and wrong.
