When approached from the theory of becoming,consciousness is not a natural,instinctive feature of man,but generated into reality through the course of history by man’s objectified praxis and activity.This is to say that consciousness itself is a historical existence,existing within the process of human history.Although differences may exist between consciousness and the real life of men,both are however always united together internally.What we refer to as historical consciousness is then man’s consciousness as formed during the process of history;it is man’s consciousness of man’s own existence.The historical process of becoming is also the process of man’s self-recognition and self-understanding.
