The thirteenth International Genetics Conference was held on August 20-29, 1973 at the University of California, U.S.A. It is said that 2715 people from 62 countries and regions attended the conference, of which 1857 were full members. A total of 980 papers were reported in the conference. A total of 1068 people attended the United States (including student members, attendants, etc.), 105 in Canada, 84 in Britain, 71 in Japan, 47 in West Germany and 36 in the Soviet Union. Compared with the previous session, there were 56 countries and regions attending the Twelfth International Genetics Conference held in Japan in 1968, with 1720 participants in total. However, there were only two or three hundred people attending the 3rd and the 3rd International Conferences in the beginning of this century
