Whether or not ocean current observations need to consider good astronomical conditions does not seem to be a problem for a long time. In the past few years, due to some reasons, all sorts of misgivings have suddenly occurred on them, causing observational chaos. A few years ago in the preparation of marine survey norms had made a lot of checking on this issue and carried out a number of discussions, the initial solution to the problem, and the good astronomical conditions of the current observations provided for. However, some comrades later said that they did not quite understand why they were required to make these provisions and at the same time were very inconvenient in choosing a good date. They all demanded that their reasons be properly chosen. Recently, when we used tidal current data from a survey vessel to do tidal current analysis, we found that the harmonic constants calculated from these data can not be applied at all. The reason for this is that the observation date was not selected according to good astronomical conditions. For all these reasons, we publish this article on the implementation of the new version of oceanographic survey in an attempt to illustrate the need for good astronomical conditions for ocean current observations and to provide some specific options for oceanographic investigators’ reference .
