Many years ago, scholars conducted a lot of investigations into the prevalence of childhood chronic diseases and their mental health problems. Much of the research is to determine the existence of mental health problems in children with chronic diseases, but generally lack of accurate standards. In a recent large-scale basic health survey, the authors used a pediatrician’s method of diagnosing mental health problems. METHODS: This study is based on data from primary health surveys in Monroe County, New York. From January 1979 to January 1980, the purpose of the investigation was to determine the prevalence and treatment of mental health problems among children as seen in pediatric practice. Each of the 30 pediatricians reported a two-month observation using a standardized approach. The first visit included three items: social demography information, reason for visit and medical status of children, and mental health. The second phase is in the diagnosis of mental health problems in children. Based on the WHO revised monograph on the classification of mental illnesses, it details the type of disease, its duration, its outcome and its treatment. The chronic diseases and mental health problems are then evaluated separately and the treatment arrangements for these patients are made.
