在社会主义市场经济条件下，我国体育显著表现为六个方面的特征：即有明确的方向性、存在地域的差异性、具有积极和消极的两重性、采用国办与社办的多元性、发挥众志成城的协调性、勇于参与的竞争性。为了使我国体育登上一个新台阶，必须坚持我国体育为社会主义、为人民服务的方向，要顺应市场经济发展规律与实事求是相一致，把体育转向科技进步的轨道。抓住机遇积极推进体育的深化改革和迅速发展。
Under the conditions of socialist market economy, the sports in our country are characterized by six aspects: clear direction, geographical differences, positive and negative duality, the use of the multiple functions of state-run and social organizations The co-ordination of all over the world, the courage to participate in the competition. In order to make our country’s sports ascend to a new stage, we must uphold the direction of our country’s sports for socialism and serving the people. We must conform to the law of market economy in accordance with the principle of seeking truth from facts and turn our sports toward the track of scientific and technological progress.
