Mycorrhizal can reduce the population of a kind of soybean pod worm and fall armyworm and is beneficial for protecting soybean from insect pests. Both insects pose a great threat to soybean production. In a study by Raymond Pacovsky, a researcher at the USDA Western Regional Research Center, soybean pod worm and fall armyworm larvae were challenged with soybean plants infected with the vesicle-vesicular mycorrhizal (VAM) fungus Leaves, control group with uninoculated soybean plant leaves for food. After 14 days, the average weight of the two insect larvae in the test group was reduced by 40% compared to the control group.
