After closing the skull, the rod can be extended and connected to a standard 2,450Hz microwave generator. Ultrashort waves emitted by this generator excite tumor cells, and the resulting vibrations generate molecular friction and heat. Salkman said that 60 minutes of microwave irradiation with 10 watts of energy during the night of the surgery and the following day produces a temperature of 15°-17°C near the antenna. The patient is awake and this
