The concept of metastasis colony formation was proposed by Weinberg et al in 2011, refers to the tumor cells shed from the primary tumor, transferred to the potential site, regained the ability to proliferate, the gradual growth and expansion from the micrometastasis to form the naked eye Visible metastatic process. This process is the rate-limiting phase of metastasis, and only a small percentage of metastasized cells can successfully form metastatic clones. This process is regulated by many kinds of related genes and related to the structure of tissues and organs. In this paper, we summarize some published research results and summarize and analyze the mechanism of metastasis colony formation from the aspects of formation process, characteristics and influencing factors. At the same time, we discussed the treatment methods of cancer metastasis.
