In her collection, she writes about the woman’s own world through “female writing,” fighting Irish women for “female discourse.” For thousands of years, Irish women and their bodies have been the object of writing by male writers, and women are always in a state of being examined and written. Burland’s “Female Writing” broke the traditional state of female aphasia, resisted the hegemony of male discourse, and won the right of speech and existence for the majority of Irish women.
