The 27 July strike of the Jing-Han railway broke out in 1927 serves as a milestone for the Chinese working class in its first organized and great political struggle under the leadership of the Chinese Communist Party. Xiang Ying, who later became the political commissar of the New Fourth Army, was one of the major leaders in the strike. He fought from the beginning to the end of the fight until he was fortunate enough to escape the bullet from the suppression of the strike by the warlords and went to Beijing to report to Congress to prosecute the warlords. For details, see “Xiang Ying and the 27 strike”.
