In recent years, the western archeology has emerged a new key word Materiality. It has become the subject of discussions in international conferences and special issues and research programs, emphasizing the material cultural influence and even the transformation of human society and the content of spiritual civilization. This article aims at the understanding of “materiality ” in western archeology, and uses the former Shu Yongling in Chengdu as the research object. When I was studying at Oxford University, I read Professor Michael Sullivan wrote in 1947 about his involvement in the excavation of Wang’s tomb. Coincides with the recent Sichuan University Department of Archeology to draw up a number of archaeological archives before, the author then integrated two materials, try to interpret Yongling material point of view.
