郑单958玉米品种是堵纯信教授培育成的高产、稳产、多抗玉米新品种,是通过了山东、河南、河北等多省和国家审定的品种,并被国家农业部定为重点推广的玉米品种。因其整个生育期不足100d,该品种已是我国夏玉米播区的重要品种。在我国广大的春播玉米产区,尽管有引进、推广、示范的消息,但在栽培和种植这方面的报道还是很少。2008年,陕西省启动了玉米高产创建活动,其中主推的高产玉米品种就是郑单958。对于玉米主产区的陕西北部即渭北旱塬地区,主要是春播一年一熟区,引进、示范、推广还是首次。我县从当年引进示范到2010年推广面积1.33万hm2的种植规模来看,该品种在春播区的种植潜力巨大,作为密植型品种,以较大的优势取代了原有种
