软骨调节素Ⅰ(ChM-Ⅰ)是软骨调节素家族中效应最强的一种软骨特异性生长因子,早期对ChM-Ⅰ的研究主要集中在软骨组织,之后研究显示在其他的无血管组织,如眼、心脏瓣膜、椎间盘中也存在ChM-Ⅰ的表达。由于ChM-Ⅰ具有抑制血管生长的特性,很多以血管异常生长为主要表现的疾病会出现ChM-Ⅰ的表达变化,提示其参与了众多疾病的发生和发展过程。在体外环境下,ChM-Ⅰ可抑制血管内皮细胞DNA合成和管状结构的形成,提示ChM-Ⅰ作为一种血管生长抑制因子以及软骨细胞生长刺激因子,参与了软骨的生长、发育以及成熟、老化的过程。
