In the temperate zone between the north and south latitudes and the shallow tropical waters between the north and the south, a cute little hippocampus lives. They swim in seagrasses, mangroves and coral reefs. There is a circle of protruding vertebrae on the skin of the hippocampus, which can easily be mistaken for arthropods resembling shrimps and crabs. In fact, the hippocampus is a member of the family of sharpfish. The name of the seahorse derives from their resemblance to the head of the horse. Interestingly, their long, tubular mouth is like a pig. The hippocampus has a flat body with a long tail that often falters. The styling and markings on the seahorse are similar to the seaweeds that can be hidden nearby and protect them from the eyes of predators.
