The concept of unit operation may be the first “system” concept to be successfully applied to industrial operations. Gaining a more reliable exploration of process-wide performance for the sake of consistency with some of the standard operations and the comparatively easy-to-explore operational performance of individual unit operations provides a timely tool for rationalizing the process route.
