I took a compass to run around the house, but reluctantly saw, no matter how I ran, the hands of the compass are stubbornly pointing the pointer in the direction it is looking - South. I ran, jumped, shifted, tired and sweating, gasping, trying not to point south, but it was still “determined.” While I was out of my pants, my dad laughed and told me that the magnetic field will rotate the compass's pointer so that the compass deviates from the south. No magnet at home, how can we have a magnetic field? Dad told me: When the wire is energized, there will be a magnetic field around. I asked in surprise: “When the wire is energized and a magnetic field is generated around it, the compass will deviate from the south.” Dad encouraged me to say, “Try it yourself!”
