蘭巴哲西,原名甘禅,是青海省草原上雅合拉達合澤山附近的一个藏族牧民。他原來居住在扎陵湖附近的水草豐富地區,過去由於马匪从反動政府的掠奪、屠杀,被迫遷移到这深遠的草原地區中的山羣里。他曾說:「在過去我除了不吃草,完全過着與牛羊一樣的生活。」他一年又一年的在草原上、羣山中東奔西跑,一方面逃避匪幫們,一方面尋找水草来延续他的生命,希望有一天得到解放。這樣他漸漸熟悉了青海山區、草原上的地勢和河山,並曾幾次走入西藏。青海解放後他開始了一生從沒過的溫暖、幸福生活,再也不受匪幫們的统治和殘害了,羊毛
