1912年4月14日23点43分,英国豪华邮轮泰坦尼克号不幸与冰山相撞,船上两千多名乘客和船员中有1500余人丧生。为什么泰坦尼克号遇险后不发SOS信号求助呢?原来,当天船上的无线电报机出了故障,因此灾难发生时船上的人无法与外界联络,在孤立无援中一步步走向毁灭。而当船上的电报机修好并发出SOS求救信号时,与它相距很近约加利福尼亚号又因报务员不值班而没有收到。最后,求救信息被远在纽约的一个名叫萨洛夫的人接收到,他果断地通过无线电广播向全世界通报了这一令人震惊的消息。直到次日黎明,远处的卡帕蒂阿号才闻讯赶到出事地点,最终仅仅救出710名落水者。泰坦尼克号的惨剧告诉我们无线通信有多重要。
At 23:43 on April 14, 1912, the British luxury cruise ship Titanic unfortunately collided with an iceberg, killing more than 1,200 passengers and crew members on board. Why did the Titanic fail to send SOS signals after distress? Originally, the radio reported to be on the same plane that day, so people on board the ship could not communicate with the outside world and were desperate step by step in isolation. And when the telegraph on board repaired and issued a SOS distress signal, it was close to it. Californian was not received because of the inservant’s absence. Finally, the distress message was received by a man named Salof in New York, decisively informing the world of this astonishing news by radio. Until dawn the next day, the distant Cappadia heard the news arrived at the scene of the accident, and ultimately only rescued 710 people fellows. The Titanic tragedy tells us how important wireless communications are.
