2006年5月23日,湖北省民族工作会议在武汉隆重召开。会议认真学习和全面贯彻落实中央民族工作会议暨国务院第四次全国民族团结进步表彰大会精神,研究部署了当前和今后一个时期湖北全省的民族工作。会上,俞正声同志发表了重要讲话。他要求,全省各级党委、政府和领导干部要深刻认识新时期做好民族工作的重要性和紧迫性,切实增强责任感和使命感,进一步做好民族工作,努力开创全省民族工作的新局面。进一步加快少数民族和民族地区经济社会发展,是现阶段解决民族问题的根本途径。
May 23, 2006, Hubei Provincial Ethnic Work Conference was held in Wuhan. The conference conscientiously studied and fully implemented the spirit of the Central Ethnic Work Conference and the Fourth National Unity and Commendation Conference of Nationalities of the State Council to study and deploy the ethnic work in Hubei province at present and for a period to come. At the meeting, Comrade Yu Zhengsheng delivered an important speech. He demanded that the party committees, governments and leading cadres at all levels in the province should have a profound understanding of the importance and urgency of doing a good job in ethnic affairs in the new period, earnestly enhance their sense of responsibility and mission, do more ethnical work and strive to create new nationalities in the province situation. To further accelerate the economic and social development in ethnic and ethnic minorities is a fundamental way to solve the ethnic issue at this stage.
