麦奎利在当代哲学的“语言学转向”及逻辑实证主义对神学构成巨大挑战的背景下提出了自己的语言哲学。他对逻辑实证主义的语言理论进行了批判,区分了语言与话语,提出语言的生命存在于话语情境之中,语言的意义只有在话语情境中获得。他用现象学的分析方法详细分析了话语情境的构成要素,强调了话语中的人格方面,主张把语言作为涉及人的生存的一种基本现象来看待,在方法论上把语言分析和生存分析紧密结合,为寻找并理解神学语言的意义提供了线索,也为建构新的哲理神学提供了可能。
In the context of the “philosophical shift” of contemporary philosophy and the posed great challenge to theology by logical positivism, McGuire put forward his own language philosophy. He criticized the linguistic theory of logical positivism, distinguishing between language and discourse, proposing that the life of language exists in discourse situation, and that the meaning of language is only obtained in discourse situation. He used phenomenological analysis method to analyze the elements of discourse situation in detail, emphasized the personality in discourse, advocated the language as a kind of basic phenomenon that involves the existence of human beings, treated linguistic analysis and survival analysis methodologically The combination provides a clue for finding and understanding the meaning of theological language, and also makes it possible to construct a new philosophical theology.
