Objective To investigate the relationship between diabetes and progressive ischemic stroke. Methods A total of 169 ischemic stroke patients were admitted to our hospital. According to whether the patients had diabetes, the patients were divided into diabetic group (n = 82) and non-diabetic group (n = 87). The proportions of patients developing progressive ischemic stroke were compared between the two groups. Results Among the 82 patients with diabetes mellitus, 53 cases were progressive ischemic stroke, accounting for 64.63%. Among 87 non-diabetic patients, 20 were progressive ischemic stroke, accounting for 22.99%. The proportion of patients with progressive ischemic stroke in the diabetic group was significantly higher than that in the non-diabetic group (P <0.05). Conclusions Stroke patients with diabetes mellitus are more likely to develop progressive ischemic stroke and control their blood glucose effectively, which can reduce the proportion of patients developing into progressive ischemic stroke, recover the neurological function, Reduce the disability rate of great significance.
