青照子以南汽兴衰为题撰写的《我们为什么会失败》系列最后一篇《南方有嘉木》,在《汽车商业评论》2016年3月刊出。当时,我们指出,作者主要通过分析江淮和江铃这两个嘉木的领导者左延安和孙敏,来曲折地对南汽的失败进行最后的总结。因为各种当事人还在,我们能够理解作者的曲笔,希望多年以后,还有新的篇章来作为这个系列作品最终的结束语。文章刊登后,青照子决定写一篇真正的完结篇,来为他2013年夏天开始的这个系列来个有力的结尾。于是有了今天大家看到的这篇《被附体的象》。文章也并没有就具体的领导者进行批判,但却有了新的高度,即不仅仅在显微镜下看南汽,同时还审视整个中国汽车产业发展历史,来对当下和未来汽车业的发展把脉,具有较高的现实意义。
