RNA from P. falciparum synthesizes many high-molecular-weight proteins in vitro, some of which can be precipitated by human serum immunized with falciparum malaria, among which the abundant 145,000 molecular weight protein is among them. Plasmodium falciparum was first synchronized and then cultured in vitro for 30 to 48 hours. Plasmodium RNA was raised by the usual method, and the latter showed similar electrophoretic pattern with that of rat ribosomal RNA.
