题记 2000年春,我在英国剑桥与几位清末民初英国入华传教士的后代的接触中,获得英国入华女传教士埃米莉·M·尤因斯(Emily Marry Ewins)的《辛亥家书》,由尤因斯的长子H·M·拉滕伯里(H.Morley Rattenbury)于1989年12月编辑作注成册,共辑录尤因斯从中国汉口、武昌英国租界循道会(Wesleyan Mission)发回英国的八封家书,分别写成于1911年10月15日、10月17日、10月29日、11月9日、11月19日、11月26日、12月10日和1912年11月3日。前七封家书是尤因斯在辛亥革命爆发期间(内容所述的时间起始于1911年10月2日,迄止于12月10日)、在辛亥革命爆发地(武昌与汉口)的所见所闻所历。第八封信写于1912年11月3日,内容则是对1912年10月10日辛亥革命一周年纪念日的追忆。
Inscribed in the spring of 2000, I contacted Cambridge, England and several descendants of British missionaries who came to China at the end of the Qing Dynasty and the beginning of the Republic of China to gain access to the “Xinhai Family Book” by Emily Marry Ewins, "Edited by H.
