Objective To investigate the diagnostic value of ultrasound in gastric cancer and its relationship with tumor microvessel density (MVD). Methods Fifty-two patients with pathologically confirmed gastric cancer were enrolled in this study. MVD was detected by immunohistochemistry. The relationship between sonographic features and MVD was analyzed. Results The average gastric wall thickness in 52 cases of gastric carcinoma was (12 ± 1.4) mm and the average MVD was 58.8 ± 23.1. MVD of gastric wall thickness≥12mm was significantly higher than that of gastric wall thickness <12mm (P <0.05). Ultrasound examination of gastric wall thickening and lymph node metastasis were correlated with MVD (P <0.05). Conclusion Ultrasound results can reflect the gastric malignant behavior of gastric wall thickening, lymph node metastasis and other features, the pathological basis and tumor angiogenesis.
