2003年是我省公路建设不同寻常的一年,广东省委、省政府新一届领导班子高度重视公路交通基础设施建设,对交通公路部门提出了更新、更高的要求。按照省委、省政府的要求,广东省公路管理局坚持以“三个代表”重要思想为指导,认真学习贯彻党的十六大精神和胡锦涛总书记视察广东时的重要讲话,贯彻落实省交通厅的部署,在财政体制改革实行“收支两条线”、公路规费征收机制发生变化、取消超收分成以及全省发生“非典”疫情的情况下,积极采取措施,发扬艰苦奋斗精神,团结一心、克服困难、开拓进取、扎实工作,战胜了“非典”疫情及其所带来的负面影响,在公路的建设、养护、管理、规费征收以及精神文明建设等各个万面取得了可喜的成绩,保证了我省公路事业的健康、持续发展。截至去年底,我省公路总里程达110253公里,其中高速公路2303公里,一级公路6543公里,二级公路15926公里、三级公路10808公里,水泥路面41578公里,桥梁22399座1029090延米,我省公路密度达到61.9公里/百平方公里,各项指标均位居全国前列,有效地促进了我省经济的发展。
