The motion of the image blurs the incident energy of the electro-optical imaging system and reduces the system’s ability to detect and identify distant targets. Motion occurring at sensor integration time or framing time usually has the most significant effect, though the motion of the image between frames can also be focused on application and image processing. Thus, the technical requirements for line-of-sight stabilization are limited to only the amplitude of the image motion, and there is a margin of effort regardless of the frequency, and in some cases may exceed design limits.
