高天如教授近著《中国现代语言计划的理论和实践》,是一本旨在传承并弘扬我国语言计划学业的书。其书名和实际内容和理论阐述皆有新义和创见。 在此以前,我国语言学界的几位专家已先后撰文介绍或采用“语言计划”(Langnage Planning)以及“地位计划”(Status Planning)、“本体计划”(Corpus Planning)等系列语言学术语。周有光先生认为:“任何国家,从旧时代到新时代,从旧体制到新体制,从殖民地到独立国,都需要更新语文,作为更新教育的工具,以利国家建设的现代化。”“把这些语文问题作为研究对象,发展成一门新兴学科叫做‘语言计划’(Language Planning)。它是社会语言学中有重大实用价值的学科分支。”本书作者将“语言计划”用于书名。这一名称的采用,将有利于我国以研究汉语文改革和建设为己任的这一学科更明确地独立起来。
