As of October 1984, 6620 cases of Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome (AIDS) have been reported in the United States, with 3089 deaths; 559 reported in Europe and 255 deaths; and as of February 1985, 53 have been reported in Australia with 18 deaths For example, (mortality rates were 47%, 46% and 34% respectively). As new patients are constantly being discovered, the above mortality rate is lower than the actual situation. If the two years after diagnosis are completed, the mortality rate will reach 80%. According to the United States in March 1984, the number of people who are at risk is 72% for homosexuals or bisexual men, 17% for intravenous drug addicts, 5% for Haitian immigrants, 0.6% and the other 5.4% were those who had sex with the above-mentioned people or those who received blood transfusion. The situation is similar in Europe and Australia.
