作为一部大型动作角色扮演游戏(A·RPG),神圣纪事中包含了大量的情节、任务和事件,这其中包括了叙述故事主要情节的主线任务,交代其他相关事件的支线任务,以及相当数量的随机任务。支线任务和随机任务的完成与否,并不会影响到故事的发展方向,但对于拓展游戏内容、增加故事内涵确有不小的帮助。主线任务只会随着游戏剧情的发展逐个出现,其间会有明确的提示;而支线任务和随机任务则一般要找相关的人物对话才能接到,同一时间可以接受多个任务。所有已经接受和已完成的任务都会被分列在任务提示栏中。以下以战斗法师(Battle Mage)为主角穿插介绍游戏的主线(红)与支线任务(绿),主线任务地点附近和沿途可以接到的支线任务在其后列出。而随机任务由于接受的地点不固定,而且重复率高,因此不在此文探讨范围。
