Hepatitis D virus (HDV or delta-factor) is a defective RNA virus that replicates only in patients with hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection. The authors report circulating HBsAg disappeared within 1 to 7 months after three HDV infections (course of 3 to 6 years) in patients with chronic HBV infection. Subsequently, HDV antibodies appeared, returned to normal clinics, and aminotransferases were normal, and two of them showed anti-HBs.
