竹蝉(Platylomia piel Kato)又名山蝉、螂蝉,属同翅目蝉科(Cicadidae).据记载,该虫广泛分布于浙江、江苏、安徽、四川、云南等省.成虫吸食枫杨、檫树等树种枝干汁液,若虫大部分在毛竹林土中生活,对于若虫在土中的取食习性尚无研究报道.1982年6、7月间我们先后在太华公社新华大队东山毛竹林和张家大队黄瓜界岭毛竹林中挖掘竹蝉若虫时,发现若虫用口针刺吸液汁的情景.6月19日在东山竹林解剖1米长竹鞭两侧有若虫穴19个,其中12个穴有虫;8月3日在黄瓜界岭竹林解剖1米长竹鞭有虫穴33个,其中8个穴有若虫正在吸食.口针插入处有一小白点,
