By using N-bromosuccinimide as modifier, the distribution of tryptophan (Trp) residues in human plasminogen (HPg) and its relationship with enzyme activity were studied. It was found that each HPg molecule There are 19 Trp residues, 5 on the surface of the molecule; two are fast reacting residues, one of which is an essential amino acid for activity.
