一、加拿大的多元文化教育。加拿大位于北美洲北半部,东临大西洋,西濒太平洋,南接美国,北靠北冰洋,是一个典型的多民族的国家。其居民有蒙古人种、欧罗巴人种和尼格罗人种,民族成分达100多个,宗教信仰有50多种。多种民族、多种宗教和多元文化共同构成了加拿大文明的历史特征。1990年,加拿大被联合国开发计划署评为首个最适合“人类生长”的国家,1995年世界银行评估加拿大的人均财富占世界第二位;1994~1997年联合国连续将加拿大评定为人类发展指数占世界第一位的国家。人们普遍认为,多元文化主义教育政策的实施为加拿大综合国力的提升发挥了重要作用。
First, Canada’s multicultural education. Canada is located in the northern half of North America, the Atlantic Ocean to the east, the Pacific Ocean to the west, the United States to the south, the Arctic Ocean north, is a typical multi-ethnic country. Its inhabitants are Mongoloid, European and Negro breeds with more than 100 nationalities and more than 50 religious beliefs. Multi-ethnic, multi-religious and multi-cultural together constitute the historical features of Canadian civilization. In 1990, Canada was named the first country most suitable for “human growth” by the United Nations Development Program. In 1995, the World Bank assesses Canada’s per capita wealth as the second largest in the world. In 1994 and 1997, the United Nations successively rated Canada as the human development index The first country in the world. It is generally accepted that the implementation of multiculturalist education policies has played an important role in enhancing the overall national strength of Canada.
