[UK International Nuclear Engineering, September 1990, p.44] Siemens started developing high-density storage racks in the early 1970s. Its purpose was to increase the capacity of spent fuel pools to accommodate more than one batch ( Even two batches) of refueling components. This is done by adding neutrons to the storage facility structure
