In regional trials for hybrid rice in Jiangxi Province in 1987 and 1988, the average yield of Xieyou 2374 over the 12 trials sites was 5.19 t/ha, and 6.78 t/ha respectively, being 11.2% and 8.7% higher respectively than the CK Shanyou 2. In 1989-1990 national regional trials for hybrid rice, its average yield for 2 yr was 6.76 t/ha, 9.33% higher than the CK Shanyougui 33 at the significant level of 0.05, being the highest among all varieries tested.
