Mexico has trade relations with more than 100 countries and regions. The main export markets are the United States, Canada, and Japan. The main sources of imports are the United States, Japan, and Germany. In 1998, Mexico’s foreign trade totaled 242.74 billion U.S. dollars, and the import and export volume was 125.24 billion U.S. dollars and 11.75 billion U.S. dollars, respectively. Mexico’s mechanical and electrical products are mainly exported: small cars, passenger cars, automotive parts, information processing equipment, wires, computers, steel products. The major electromechanical products imported include auto parts, computers, electrical parts, metal processing machines, communications equipment, textile machinery and parts, and measurement and analysis instruments. The bilateral trade volume between China and Mexico has increased rapidly. In 1972, when the two countries established diplomatic relations, the trade volume was only US$ 12.99 million. By 1998, the Sino-Mexican trade volume had reached US$ 837 million, of which China’s imports were US$ 147 million, exports were US$ 689 million, and China’s surplus was US$ 542 million. In 1998, China’s main exports to Mexico were mechanical equipment, household appliances, chemicals, pig iron, textile yarns, and light industrial products. The main commodities imported from Mexico are organic electricity, steel, chemical raw materials and leather. In the same year, China exported 390 million U.S. dollars of mechanical and electrical products to Mexico, which accounted for 56% of my total exports to Mexico, an increase of 87.9% over 1997, and the electrical and mechanical products that I imported from Mexico were only 50 million U.S. dollars, accounting for China’s import of Mexico. The total amount of 37% was 55.5% higher than that of 1997. Therefore, the mechatronics market in Mexico has potential for Chinese enterprises. What is the market capacity of Mexico’s specific electromechanical products? What are the marketable products and what is the status of our products in their markets? How can we continue to expand? Specific analysis.
