实现了全国农业区域规划,编写了综合区划资料。在培育良种上取得了突出成就,基本上更新了一代农作物新品种,培育了小麦、水稻、玉米、棉花、牲畜等一批优良品种。水稻平均亩产量已由解放初期的二百多斤,增加到五百多斤。籼型杂交水稻累计已在近四亿亩农田中推广,增产稻谷四百多亿斤。山东省棉新品种,近年来每年推广一千多万亩,增产棉花三四百万担。世界第一个冬小麦花培新品种京花一号,试种面积达十万亩。
