近三十年来,世界各国综合采煤机械化得到了飞速发展,但由于工作面的开采地质条件不明,各国每年在煤矿生产中所造成的损失是非常惊人的。只有较准确地掌握:①煤厚变化,②煤层中落差仅在数米以内的小断层,③煤层冲蚀,④煤层陷落柱,⑤煤层中的火成岩体及其他包裹体等开采地质条件,才能对工作面中可能出现的地质问题做到心中有数,从而确定哪些煤层、哪些工作面适于进行综合机械化开采.用最小的代价取得最大的经济效果.
