Millimeter-wave (MMW) technology is increasingly important for defense applications such as radar, weapon guidance, satellite communications, e-warfare and secure communications. Compared with the lower frequency microwave, it has the advantages of wide bandwidth, high radar spatial resolution, low probability of interception / interference and small size of the antenna and equipment. If the national measurement reference provided by the National Bureau of Standards (NBS) is not sufficient to support modern millimeter-wave measurements, the Department of Defense and defense contractors can not calibrate the instrument and accurately measure component parameters and system performance.
