It was learned from related departments that the Haier Group of Shandong Province invested USD 29.8 million in the construction of a refrigerator production line in South Carolina, USA, which was the largest overseas investment enterprise in North America in Shandong Province. So far, 78 enterprises such as Jinan Qingqi, Binzhou Printing and Dyeing, and Rizhao Sanmu have been investing and establishing overseas factories in Shandong Province. Since the beginning of this year, the Shandong Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial Government have attached great importance to the development of transnational operations by leading enterprises with equipment and technology investments, and have demanded that they be an important part of the restructuring of the industrial economy. To guide this work, the Shandong Provincial Economic and Trade Commission formulated and issued the “Opinions on the Implementation of Overseas Investment and Construction of Advantageous Enterprises” to clarify the train of thought and focus: in terms of regional selection, South Africa, South Asia and South America
