1924年8月3日,国闻通讯社在上海创办了《国闻周报》。这是一份时事性、政论性、综合性的新闻周刊,其栏目包括新闻、时评、译作、文艺作品、一周述评、一周日志、新闻照片等,内容丰富,图文并貌,较完整地反映了现代中国的情况,至今仍是历史研究工作者必备的参考书之一。《国闻周报》创办人胡政之(1889-1949年)是我国著名记者和报刊政论家,也是一位成功的报业经营者。他独力经营的《国闻周报》,是他一生报业生涯的辉煌的一页。
