防寒装备登山衣着必须配合环境的变化,而要考虑的环境因素有四个:高度、风速、湿度、温度。山间流动的空气能不断地将热量由体表移走,热量的散失是相当可观的。这种风寒效应,使得体温在有风的环境中比实际气温中要低。另外,水的冷却能力比空气高23倍,因此假如衣裤湿了,体温被水份快速冷却下来,登山者很快便会感到寒冷难耐。此时再加上高山上的寒风,便有可能造成冻伤。因此登山者必须要考虑到防寒装备的防风、防水、透气性的重要性。
