Low levels of magnesium in chronic diabetes and tissues are associated with hypomagnesemia. In fact, hypomagnesemia occurs even in diabetic children, with significant changes in vascular reactivity. Despite the use of insulin, the prevalence of hypertension is between 40% and 80% in patients with chronic diabetes. McNair et al. Also pointed out that there is a negative correlation between retinopathy and hypomagnesemia in some diabetic patients. They conclude that hypomagnesemia is a risk factor in the development and progression of retinopathy. Similarly, Ewald et al confirmed that there was a positive correlation between the degree of hypomagnesemia in 27 children and future long-term diabetic complications. Evidence suggests that many of the problems associated with diabetes are associated with tissue and serum magnesium deficiency. If so, the mortality rate of diabetes in magnesium-rich environment is expected to decrease as a result of drinking
