采用镁合金作为结构材料,虽强度高,但其工作温度目前仍限制在150℃以下。含钍合金的研究便扩大了比重小的材料的使用范围。这些合金在315℃下的长时间工作,对其机械性能的影响不大。在较高温度下的瞬时工作也几乎不改变其机械性能。 HK31A′合金即为镁钍合金中的一种,该种合金已经大量生产。目前,这种合金正用于超音速飞机,飞行导弹及其它目的。在航空工业中HK31A′合金不仅用于结构中,而且还用于雷达和电子仪器上。
