在自然界中,物体除了具备形体之外,还具有丰富美丽动人的色彩。在人类的视觉体验和感受中,物体的形状和物体的色彩是人类认识自然的第一步。人类对石头雕凿和对色彩描绘是同步进行的,雕塑和绘画艺术的产生,亦可视为人类这一行为的结果。 人类在某种程度上,对自然界的色彩敏感唾弃超过了对物体形态的把握。物体本身多具有色彩,经过加工处理后,又会以不同的色泽显现,在这里我们称之为自然本色。石头因石质不同呈现出丰富多样的色彩,如花岗岩、黑玉等。
