Using outreach, performance, video, photography, and psychotherapy, artists and museums are pioneering new ways to connect veterans of the veterans to the world and make their stories public. One month last year, the Lincoln statue on the north side of the park looked exactly the same whenever the night enveloped Manhattan Union Square. This bronze statue, cast by Henry Kirk Brown in 1868, seems to be gesturing and talking about something. The story extended by this heroic character is ironically ironic.
