历史文化名城承德市区庙宇、古塔众多,古有庙城之说。据文物复查证实:从辽、金、元、明、清等朝代肇建的寺庙就有160多座,古塔40座,其中双塔山上的“辽塔”是现存最早的一座古塔,也是辽代葬俗墓塔。双塔山又名双塔峰(《随銮纪恩》),是承德十大自然风景之一。双塔山的奇峰古塔无法攀登,诱人心弦曾闻名于世,一度引起辽、清两朝帝王的瞩目。辽在顶峰建塔,清又于山下修庙。乾隆帝在诗中写道:“东峙奇峰若双塔,天
