In this paper, the distribution of radiant heat load in the furnace of a tangentially fired boiler with four corners was experimentally studied. The test was carried out on a small hot test bed and the radiant heat load distribution in the furnace was tested by a homemade radiant heat flow meter. Shows that the distribution of heat load along the width of the furnace in the burner zone is not symmetrical and varies with the excess air factor: the rate of heat load decay along the height of the furnace increases as the excess air factor decreases.
